Don't Point that Finger at Me - #2. It's Poisonous

Updated: Dec 19, 2025

Sure, we all have areas where we seem a bit more polished – or our gifts and talents allow the illusion of having it all figured out; but if we were honest, we’re all just fumbling through this life – doing our best to move forward and not fall backward.

So why does this even matter; I mean, who cares if we all sit around and point our fingers at each other?

I am starting to fully understand the POISON that “our finger” contains. The greatest danger – is to ourselves. To quote my favorite book once again, “You hypocrite (play-actor, pretender), first get the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.” Matthew 7:3-5.

What I believe God showed me about 10 years ago – and I’ve worked fervently to practice is, that as long as I’m building my “castle of facade” instead of looking in the mirror to see what brokenness needs to be healed in me, I stay broken, I stay stuck.

The irony is, the thing we are typically SO QUICK to point out in someone else, is usually our own kryptonite. How many times have we sat and gossiped about someone gossiping about us? How many times have we allowed a minor offense to turn into a volcano of slander and hatred – that can’t be reversed? Why does our affection for criticism and accusation override our acknowledgment of our own imperfections? What in the world are we afraid of? I'll unpack this a bit more in my next post, it's a lot to process! I hope you'll consider joining my journey of healing. Subscribe for updates!

Feel free to share your thoughts, struggle, and overcoming tips. I'm sure they will spark another element of my healing journey. If you feel my journey is helping you along yours, or you think it will help someone else in your world, please share this. If COVID taught us anything, it's no matter if you're an introvert or inward thinker, isolation and the sense of being alone is pure torture. Let's not do this alone!

You're always welcome!
